Your right to privacy while using our website is very important to us (Global Marine Sea Tech (Pty) Ltd hereafter “GMS”). We respect your right to control how much information you provide to us and we collect only information to ensure that your experience when using our services remains interactive and easy to use, such as your Internet Protocol and Browser Information. Any other information that you provide us with, is subject to your consent and your knowledge.

 

GMS will never sell or share any personal information you provide with any company or organization that is not a GMS business partner or affiliate unless you consent thereto, except if it is required to do so by law. GMS business partners and affiliates are screened by GMS to ensure that they are able to handle your information confidentially and securely.

 

These are the guidelines we use for protecting any information you provide to us during your use of the Website and our services:

 

1. In general, you are able to visit GMS's website and access information while remaining anonymous and without revealing any personal information. When you enter our website we can determine your domain name and what browser and operating system you are using, but we cannot determine any personal information about you. GMS uses this information only to ascertain technical implementation to ensure our users get the best possible experience for the browser you are using.
    

2. When requesting information from us, or entering secure areas of our website, we require that you provide some information about yourself by "registering" or completing an online form. For example, situations where we will ask you to register include:

 

• When you subscribe to GMS publications or mailing lists, (you will be able to "unsubscribe" at any time);

• When participating in competitions or surveys;

• When registering a GMS product that you have purchased;

• When entering and purchasing a product from our online store, and opt to "register" an account for future purchases

The information we require, is necessary to e-mail you the information you request, (It is sometimes necessary that we email information to you) or to follow up via telephone or email to make sure you received what you purchased and to provide you with further information about product features, upgrades, specials, and support.  We may ask additional questions to ensure that our website and content we provide is in line with your needs. Each online form will clearly specify which information is required and which is optional by way of asterisks (*).  If you choose not to register and provide personal information, you can still use the GMS website.
    

2. Except with your consent as set out above, GMS will never share any information you provide (name, telephone number, postal address, email address, etc.) with any other company or organization, except if it is required to do so by law. The information you provide will be kept confidential and will be used only to support your continued customer relationship with GMS, including disclosure of your personal information, such as your delivery address details to third party suppliers of GMS, to ensure delivery of products bought to you.
    

3. GMS does not collect, store and/or retain any credit card and/or payment details.
    

4. GMS may however compile, use and share any information that does not related to any specific individual and owns all rights to information of a statistical nature compiled by GMS.

Global Marine Sea Tech respects your privacy and processes personal information in accordance with POPIA. This notice applies to information collected through www.globalmarine.co.za, our online store and other interactions with us.

• Names, company and job title.

• Email, telephone/mobile and physical/postal addresses.

• Billing, delivery, VAT, order, quotation and account information.

• Payment and transaction information necessary for purchases and reconciliation.

• Online account/login information.

• Information provided in enquiries, emails, forms and other communications.

• Marketing preferences and subscription/unsubscribe status.

• Website technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, cookies and pages visited, where applicable.

• Employee information for employment administration.

 

2. Why we collect it

We collect information to process purchases and quotations, administer accounts, deliver products, process payments, respond to enquiries, provide support, communicate about orders and services, conduct lawful marketing, operate and secure the website, improve services, manage employees and comply with legal obligations.

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and/or as required by law.

 

8. Your rights

Subject to POPIA, you may request access to personal information we hold about you and request correction or deletion where legally permitted. You may also object to certain processing, withdraw consent where applicable and object to direct marketing. We may verify your identity.

 

9. Security compromises

If a security compromise occurs involving personal information, we will take appropriate steps and notify the Information Regulator and affected data subjects as required by POPIA.
